What is the Sports Premium?
In April 2013, the Government announced new PE and sport funding of £150 million for Physical Education (PE) and sport – often referred to in the media as a ‘Sport Premium’. This funding is intended to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision.
The funding has been provided to ensure impact against the following objective: to achieve self-sustaining improvement in the quality of PE and sport in primary schools. It is important to emphasise that the focus of spending must lead to long lasting impact against the vision (above) that will live on well beyond the PE and sport funding.
Sports Premium at Our Lady of Hartley
We use our sports funding in a variety of ways to continue to make improvements to the quality of P.E, physical activity and sports offered at Our Lady of Hartley. We have put a big emphasis on making these changed sustainable so that our use of this funding will have a long-lasting impact. A significant amount of this year's funding will be used to help us to achieve the targets set out in the Schools Sport and Activity Action Plan and ensuring that children are give the opportunity to access 60 minutes of sport and physical activity every day in addition to P.E lessons. Furthermore, a large proportion of the funding will be used to provide CPD for staff members.
